Show chairman, Stan Townsend, declared the show a success with exhibitors expressing satisfaction with
the new venue and an increase in traffic. Friday was Senior's Day with residents from several area retirement
homes stopping by to enjoy the artistry.
The show hosted 45 woodcarvers and woodturners from Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma, and
offered awards in 34 woodcarving categories and six in woodturning.
Visitors to the show voted Oklahoman Lindel Porter's "Rising Covey of Quail" as the People's Choice,
while exhibitor's chose Oklahoma carver Lynn Doughty's "Trouble on the River" as their favorite. The
carving contest was won by Arkansas carver Bruce Futterer and the Best Display was won by Kansas carver Neil Nulton.
The Paxton Trophy for service to the club was awarded to Jack Nitz for his contributions to EOWA's Eagle Cane
Project for injured Iraqi war veterans. Under his direction the project has attained national status with clubs
across the country participating.
Seminars were offered by featured artists Lindel Porter, Jack Nitz, Bob Block and Buyrl Franks.
