Welcome!

The Association
The main goal of the EOWA is to promote and increase interest in and appreciation of woodcarving. The club participates in community activities and shares expertise with groups such as the Boy Scouts.

The Annual Show and Sale is the highlight activity for the club. The July event features carvers from the five-state region and national vendors. The show highlights a whittling contest, and competition of the exhibitors for coveted ribbons and purchase awards.

In September or October, members enjoy the end of summer club picnic with carving contests, horseshoes, all-you-can-eat-pot-luck and other activities.

Monthly Meeting
Monthly business/program meetings are the second Monday of the month from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the current location listed to the left.

The meeting consists of two parts, the first being the monthly business session, the second is Show and Tell, monthly judging competition, and informative program.

Members are expected to wear a carved name tag, with a 15¢ fine levied to those who don’t. New members are given a one-month grace period before they are expected to have their own personal name tag.

The club library, the most complete wood carving and reference library in the area, is available to all members-in-good-standing at no cost.

All members are encouraged to participate in the Show and Tell and monthly judging competition. Show and Tell is an open forum showcasing work done by members and other woodcarving related pieces. Different techniques, woods, finishes, and experiences with handling woods and tools are discussed with question and answers encouraged.

The monthly competition is divided into two levels. Level One is for carvers who have won a blue ribbon at any Level One judging. Level Two is for anyone who hasn’t. The categories for judging are listed in the club’s monthly newsletter. Definitions of the categories are in the association by-laws

Carve-ins, Wood Burning, Etc.
A weekly carve-in is held every Thursday at the Central Community Center from 6:00-9:00 p.m. An informal venue for carvers to share technique and projects, the carve-in is free to members and visitors. On occasion, carving projects are taught on a casual basis. These mini-seminars are free with a small fee for the wood.

The club has occasional seminars for new or intermediate carvers taught by experienced members at no cost with a small fee for wood.

The club invites national carvers to teach seminars and workshops from time to time. Costs vary from instructor to instructor. Information on these workshops will be posted in the newsletter.

Monthly Newsletter
EOWA publishes a monthly newsletter that features club news, carving patterns, a calendar of shows and seminars in the area, minutes of the last meeting, announcements, etc. The newsletter is made available to members either as a printed copy through the U.S. mail or as a digital copy over the internet.

Mentor Program
EOWA has established a mentor program for new members whereby they are paired with a long-time member who aids, instructs or counsels on carving, tools, club policy, etc.

ChipChatters
ChipChatters, an auxiliary of the club, has a monthly luncheon meeting and program. The group, made up of member spouses and friends of the club, performs volunteer and service functions for the club and community.

Cost
Annual EOWA family memberships are $15, dues due in July each year. Membership fees are pro-rated for anyone joining throughout the year.
